Great grandmother Lynn Merigan made the move into Helena Valley Lifestyle Village in April this year, following her brother, Andy, and sister-in-law, Trish – two of the original pioneers of the village – into the thriving community.

“I really like what’s on offer here at this stage in my life,” Lynn explains.

“I like the community-style living, I like the idea of functions being organised in the Village and being able to attend without having to go out driving at night.”

Lynn was also attracted by the greater level of safety of a gated community – and having a heated indoor pool and spa at her fingertips.

“I love being in the water and I go to the pool regularly with Andy and Trish. We do a little low impact exercise, then get in the spa and have a chat, so it’s social as well,” says Lynn.

“I also attend water aerobics group sessions, which are on several times a week.”

Opting for a stylish one-bedroom, one-bathroom Boronia home, Lynn – whose husband passed away eight years ago – admits downsizing was challenging.

“It was hard mentally, but the end result has proven to be so rewarding,” she says.

“It’s great being near Andy and Trish in the Village and also near my eldest brother, Ian, and sister-in-law, Joan, who live down the street.

“I call my new home ‘The Dollhouse’. It just feels so good. Even though it’s small, they seemingly have used every square foot and I’ve got it all!”

“Gardening at my previous home was becoming a bit of a struggle, whereas the minimalist garden here is perfect for my needs.”

Lynn is keen to join the many social activities on offer, such as quiz nights, that are regularly hosted at the spacious modern Clubhouse.

“While all this activity is wonderful for me, I’m excitedly awaiting the completion of the new Family Centre and outdoor pool, so my grandchildren and great grandchildren can join me in this great Helena Valley Lifestyle Village experience!”
