“It had a very nice and peaceful feeling about it, and lots of light. It just felt right,” explains Jan Padgett, describing her and her husband Allan’s first tour of their forever home in the Village.

The couple has only recently moved in, taking the downsizing plunge and leaving their family home in Bedford after 27 years.

“We were on a busy road, and it was a 1931 art deco house with a complex garden and a pool,” shares Allan.

“It was driving us totally bonkers and we were spending a load of money on the house
as it needed lots of work.”

Having toured the Village more than a year earlier, Allan again got in touch with the team and discovered a three-bedroom Powderbark home was up for re-sale. They drove out that day to inspect it and, before their Bedford home was even on the market or they’d spoken to their kids, put down a deposit.

“There are lots of big marri trees and birds and it’s just extremely pretty,” Allan says.

“Traffic is so minimal in this area and we’re just a three-minute walk from the Village’s Clubhouse but it’s still so quiet.”

While downsizing and packing and unpacking was daunting, Jan concedes it’s the best thing they’ve done.

“We’re sleeping better and we’re much less stressed,” she states.

“We’ve got plenty life left in us and we can just lock up and leave.

“We were both brought up in small country towns and it feels like that here.”

Both say the secure nature of the gated community has given them a fresh feeling of freedom.

Then, there are the fabulous new friends and many fulfilling Village social activities.

“It just seemed like a little bit of paradise and that’s how we see it now,” confesses Allan.
