The Helena Valley Village social calendar is always abuzz, with amazing regular events providing ready-made opportunities for residents to connect.

One of the highlights of the last quarter of 2022 was our Melbourne Cup Day lunch. Featuring $1, $2 and $5 sweeps, a ‘best dressed’ competition and fun in-house horse race, our guests had a blast.

Those who had a flutter – and those who didn’t – enjoyed an afternoon of friendship, food and
frivolity.

“Village events are cherished because they make social interaction so easy and inviting,” explains Village Project Director John Green.

“Often, we hear that residents weren’t planning on coming to a particular occasion but changed their mind after bumping into a friend while collecting their mail from the central Village letterboxes.

“That’s the beauty of community living, compared to being out in the suburbs – and our space has been designed to foster these ‘incidental’ social interactions because research shows just how vital great relationships are to wellbeing and longevity.*

“We see so often that people get a new lease on life once moving into the Village, and the best bit is that it happens organically, as if it’s the most natural thing in the world.”
