On Friday October 29, we held the final of our annual Village Pool Competition. Around 20 Lifestylers joined in to watch the drama unfold and the pressure was on. The competition is now into its 7th year, and 2021 saw an impressive 16 entries which was the best turnout for several years and was great to see.

After whittling down the numbers, we were left with four worthy semi-finalists. Geoff Worth won convincingly 3-0 against Barrie Gear in the first semi, then Norrie Merryfield beat Kim Heaver 3-2 in semi number two. The final game saw them both ‘on the black’ and after Kim rattled the pocket, Norrie stepped up to calmly take the win and progress to the final.

We knew the final be a very good match but, on the night, Norrie mentioned nerves got to him a bit, and Geoff came out on top with a convincing 4-1 win. Huge congratulations to Geoff who played extremely well and left Norrie with tough shots in every game.

Thanks must go to Admin for sponsoring this event again this year and for the first time, we awarded prizes to the two losing semi-finalists
as well as the finalists. Another big thanks to our Social Club for firstly purchasing the Pool Shield and also engraving the winners name.

So onto next year, thank you to those who entered the competition and also those who came to watch on the night.

We are looking forward to the next one so get practicing now, you never know, your name might be on the shield next time!
