My name is Dave Aspinall, and next month I’ll have been here for one year.

I chose to move to a lifestyle village really to meet people. And also it was actually my wife didn’t want to be married anymore, so we had to split up the home and the lifestyle village was good because there’s all sorts of good people and activities and you can make of it what you want, really. And also the proximity to my children and family, which is in Perth. And it’s not that far away.

I think the nicest thing about the village is just the freedom of being able to do what you want when you want. There’s just so many activities you can partake in and if you want to, you can. And if you don’t want to, you don’t have to and you’re not disappointing anyone.

So I played bridge on a Saturday morning and on a Tuesday evening and also on a Wednesday we go down to the Midland Courthouse and play there. And then on Sunday, I play table tennis and then there’s other activities in between that I can get involved with. Also volunteer my time to work at a Heritage Air Force museum. So I have a pretty full week.

It certainly takes away a lot of the boredom and the routine that you had. You know, when you’re living with someone in a home, you can just come and go as you want. And it’s the freedom, just the flexibility of the lifestyle village. It’s just great.
